Machine Memoirs: Space

The reel Store - by Refik Andalusia in collaboration with NASA. Using images taken by NASA satellites and telescopes of the deeper regions of outer space and bringing them to life. When walking down the stairs to the exhibition space I am always apprehensive about going to a place that I don’t know, I get butterflies in my stomach, maybe its fear or just excitement, all I know is that my feet continue to walk and guide me into the exhibition. You are given an introduction to the piece of artwork and lead through a darkened room to ensure that no light gets into the room. When entering the room you are met with an explosion of colour covering all the walls and floor, the motion of the piece is unnerving at first but after looking around the room you find your feet. The video is played on a loop and transitions between fluid particles of colour that move like waves. In the room there was a lot of people sat around on the floor admiring the installation and after observing the room I decided to join the group and sit with my back to the wall and immerse myself in the space. I found the space calming and also invigorating, the colours were familiar but seeing them blend into each other created a kaleidoscope new colours that fascinate the eye. I really enjoyed sitting and watching the installation, by sitting on the floor I felt more immersed in the artwork and felt connected to the artists intent of the piece. It was nice to see different people of all ages viewing the artwork
