Stand Up To Hatred, 2009, Coventry Car Park

The box was an installation to mark the commemoration for Holocaust Memorial Day in 2009. Donations of shoes by people in Coventry - While walking down from the car park in Coventry, a large container caught my eye and I find interesting things always catch my eye. The container was filled over half way with different types of shoes with tags on them. I was fascinated by how many shoes were in the container, normally I would only see a few pairs of shoes at home so this to me was fascinating. Different people have donated their shoes for this cause and enabled this piece to be transformed into a powerful statement and tribute. I like all the different types, varieties and sizes of shoes, which show how everyone is different and are all unique but we all can still stand up and show support and respect for a good cause.
